A vigorous but beautiful subshrub; Dwarf Periwinkle

The Dwarf Periwinkle (vinca minor) is a subshrub that spreads along the ground and forms colonies. They have glossy dark green foliage and striking large violet flowers that starts to bloom in spring. Since periwinkles tend to spread, they're commonly grown as groundcovers and good for eliminating weed. Certain varieties of periwinkle have been awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society including the Bowles's Variety cultivar.
