Very much native to the Japanese region, the Red Sentinel (hybrid Astilbe) blooms with crimson red flowers on red stems during summer. They're mostly grown on borders and on the sides of a pond garden, and does very well when planted in groups. The Red Sentinel thrives on a well-drained soil and must be grown on a shaded area, but can be grown under a full sun provided that the area is in a cold weather condition.
