The rockfoil (saxifraga) are small plants that usually grow on the ground, producing tiny flowers with rosette leaves. During spring, its foliage becomes thick and the flowers appear on its stalk eventually lasting up to summer. Some saxifraga species are now cultivated as garden plants, specially on groundcovers or cushion plants on rock gardens. Rockfoil plants are shade lovers and should be provided with mulch to maintain its soil moisture.
