The rotting of mushrooms on cherry trees (called armillaria) is a destructive parasitic fungi that lives on the tree's root, eventually elevating their damage to the upper part of the tree further spreading the disease. Identification of this disease is quite difficult at first, but the most common appearance of it is when the roots start to manifest layers of white or yellow fungus. Unfortunately, there's still no cure on this fungal disease so it's best to plant cherry trees in a non-infected soil.
